If you perused social media over the weekend (or more specifically, TikTok) chances are you spotted glimpses of Sofia Riche’s wedding in the South of France (opens in new tab). The star’s extravagant nuptials at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, seem to have well and truly taken over the internet.
Many are dissecting Richie’s so-called ‘re-brand’ and predicting that she is set to be fashion’s next It-girl (opens in new tab), and if her wedding wardrobe is anything to go by, we think they might be right.
The bride walked down the aisle in a lace, halterneck look, and later changed into a white mini dress inspired by a 1993 runway dress worn by Claudia Shiffer. On the eve of her wedding, Richie wore another Chanel gown for her rehearsal dinner. This one was an intricately beaded long-sleeve dress, which was inspired by a runway look seen in 1997.
While the bride’s wedding (opens in new tab) day looks might be the most talked about, Richie’s wardrobe across the remainder of the weekend deserves a spotlight too. From coveted labels like Khaite and Proenza Schouler to smaller emerging brands like Aussie label Posse, all of Sofia’s South of France looks have been an A+ in the style stakes. And luckily, we’ve managed to track down a few of the exact pieces.
While the 24-year-old has flown relatively under the radar for the last few years, we predict, she is set for big things in 2023. Keep scrolling to see and shop Sofia Riche’s wedding weekend wardrobe.

Fashion insiders know that Proenza Schouler is a highly-coveted brand and evidently Sofia Richie is a big fan. Over her wedding weekend, the bride wore a few looks by the label. On the runway, this look was paired alongside trousers as a top, but we love the way Richie has styled it as a sleek mini dress.

In some cultures, henna designs are synonymous with celebration. The night before a major event like a wedding, it’s common practice to decorate hands — and sometimes even feet — with the popular natural dye. Whether you’re considering it for your nuptials — or perhaps even a holiday like Eid or Diwali in certain cultures — a henna tattoo can be a great way to celebrate.
Here’s everything you need to know about henna for beginners, including how to care for a henna tattoo and some popular henna design ideas.
What is henna?
Henna is an Arabic word that refers to a plant natively found in Asia and Africa. In South Asia, henna is commonly referred to as mehndi. The henna plant offers a reddish-brown dye when applied to the skin or hair. The dye is formed by first drying the plant’s leaves and then crushing them to a powder. The powder is then made into a paste, which can be applied to hair or a beard as a natural dye. The paste can also be piped into plastic bag cones to create intricate henna designs on hands and feet.
While the FDA has only approved henna for use as a hair dye, not for direct application to skin, allergic reactions to traditional plant-based henna are not common. That said, you will want to take care to avoid so-called “black” henna, which often contains high levels of a chemical called paraphenylenediamine, or PPD. While PPD is an approved permanent hair dye ingredient, the level found in black henna has been shown to cause allergic and hypersensitivity reactions when applied directly to skin, especially in children.
How long does a henna tattoo last?
A henna tattoo can last up to three weeks on the skin, but you’ll probably notice that it will start to fade after two or three days. It will gradually fade away until it’s completely removed from the skin.
A henna tattoo works by dying the skin, so as the top level of the skin starts to naturally slough off, so too will the tattoo. You’ll also notice a difference in the color of the henna tattoo. When freshly applied, it will appear as a dark stain, but as time goes on, it will fade to orange or light brown.
How to care for your henna tattoo
Your henna artist can best advise how to care for your henna tattoo based on the type of henna they use. Still, there are some general guidelines you can follow to ensure yours will last as long as possible:
Once your henna has been freshly applied, let the henna dry out. This can take 20 minutes up to an hour. At this stage, the dried out henna tattoo might start to flake. Let it flake off naturally but don’t deliberately flake it off — let the dye sit. Because henna tattoos work as a dye, you need to let them set for at least a few hours (or even overnight). This part of the application process is a gentle and patient one. Just be careful to tend to your henna tattoo — don’t smudge it anywhere and don’t get water on it.
Some henna artists may recommend applying a layer of sugar water with lemon to your henna tattoo. It’s a simple blend of water, sugar and lemon that henna artists might provide you with. This helps result in a darker stain color when the henna is removed. It can be sticky, so a henna artist might put a sock over your hand where the henna is applied to avoid any smudges or sticky accidents.
Another method henna artists might use is fabric medical tape to preserve the henna design. In this method, the entire hand with the henna design is wrapped with fabric medical tape as the dye catches on. The sock method or the fabric tape method both make it easier to get a good night’s sleep with henna on.
After leaving the henna on for several hours or overnight, it’s time to wash the henna. Remove the sock or medical tape if using and then, under lukewarm water, gently rub the henna off. It will wash off to reveal — hopefully — a beautifully stained design! Be warned — sometimes henna’s color doesn’t turn out as dark or as strong as hoped. This could be because the henna dye wasn’t left on long enough, or the right conditions weren’t created for it to stain properly.
How to remove a henna tattoo
Henna tattoos can’t be removed overnight or in a few hours, so be certain you want a henna tattoo before going for it. To remove a henna tattoo, the layers of skin where the dye has seeped into need to be removed. This can be achieved by washing the area with soap many times over, or exfoliating to speed the process. A henna tattoo should naturally remove itself over the course of a few weeks with regular hand-washing.
Where are henna tattoos placed?
A henna tattoo is most commonly placed on the hands and the feet, but technically you can place one almost anywhere on your body. Speak to your henna artist about what you’re envisioning and make sure they have the experience and skill to achieve what you’re looking for.
How much does a henna tattoo cost?
The price rates for a henna tattoo vary by region and the intricacy of the design. Speak to a local henna artist to learn about their rates. On average, a simple henna tattoo design on one hand might cost between $10 to $15; an involved bridal design could cost upwards of $500.
How to learn henna design
Like any form of art, henna requires practice! To learn how to become a henna artist, you can look into henna courses at local beauty and esthetician schools, particularly those that specialize in catering to South Asian brides. Apart from courses, you can practice on your own and teach yourself the art of henna. It requires a steady hand and a lot of practice, but with time you should expect to see great results.
Popular henna tattoo designs
Henna is a very organic art, so it’s likely that your henna artist will use their own creative expression to come up with a design for you. That said, some henna artists might have a sample photo book of designs they can replicate for you, or you can bring your own design ideas for the henna artist to create. The popularity of certain henna designs varies by culture and region, and can include symbolic designs that symbolize luck, love, joy and more.
However across all cultures, flowers are a very popular motif.

Another popular motif is paisley, particularly in South Asia.

Simple dotted sun motifs are also popular.

For weddings, you might see the bride get her partner’s name written on her hand in henna.

For a fun and modern approach, brides might also tie in the story of how they met, such as including a famous landmark from a certain city into the henna design or including henna paintings of shared memories or favorite hobbies.
If you’re on the hunt for the best gym wear (opens in new tab), know this – ethical and sustainable sports brands should be on your radar by now. As the latest IPCC report showed, the time is now to combat global warming – we might not have long left.
Case in point: 10,000 items of clothing get sent to landfill every five minutes.
Here at Marie Claire UK, sustainability is at the core of what we do, which is why we always encourage you to shop ethically where possible. If you feel you can’t afford to invest in more sustainable brands, shopping less is also a great way to reduce your carbon footprint.
Protecting our planet has never been more pressing. Without further ado…
Sustainable sports brands: your guide
According to Emma Foster-Geering, Vivobarefoot (opens in new tab)‘s director of sustainability (opens in new tab), being an eco-friendly brand means setting goals to restore and regenerate human health and our natural world. “There is simply no other alternative in a present where we and our ecosystems are so sick,” she explains.
Historically, activewear hasn’t been very environmentally friendly largely due to the fabric used, which is often synthetic, non-recycled and non-biodegradable. Synthetic materials often require a lot of energy and water to produce.
Luckily, times have changed. Independent brands are carving a niche by focusing on ethical practices such as a short supply chain, ethical labour, and innovating with natural fabrics such as vegan leather made from plants or natural rubber.
Bigger brands are following suit, with labels such as adidas developing new fabrics from ocean waste and investing in better cotton. This isn’t to say all their practice is 100% there yet, but that steps are certainly being made in the right direction.
Why is shopping sustainably important?
Because, in short, the organisations and regulations that govern them are driven by consumer opinion, according to Foster-Geering.
“By shopping sustainable, we send a collective message to both that products which solve important environmental and ethical problems are what we want. We know sustainability is important, but what we need next is a lot more scientific rigour and transparency around what that really means,” she goes on.
Which brands are sustainable?
Many sustainable sports brands offer a great range of workout leggings (opens in new tab), sports bras (opens in new tab), matching gym sets (opens in new tab) and running shoes (opens in new tab), enhancing your workout and promising to have less of an impact on the planet, too. No matter your budget or training plan, there are a load of brands that offer products spanning luxe Tencel yoga bodysuits to vegan leather trainers.
“More and more companies are marketing their products as sustainable, but arguably the production of items made transparently in environmental and ethically positive supply chains with strong circular solutions remains extremely low. The shift to “eco” thinking has been overwhelming – hopefully, the practical application of this in the industry will follow,” says Foster-Geering.
If you’re not sure, always check on the B Corp directory (opens in new tab) if a brand is certified – this means they’ve undergone three years of rigorous testing to ensure they meet the highest ethical practices. Similarly, sites like Good on You (opens in new tab) are a great start for seeing in real-time what a company is doing to better their practice.
Still not sure? Foster-Geering reckons that the five pointers at the bottom of this article are the most important things to be looking out for.

Sustainable sports brands to shop now: 15 top picks
(opens in new tab)
Tree Flyer running trainer – £150 | Allbirds
USP? This is the lowest CO2 running trainer in the world. Fun fact: we wrote a whole article on how these shoes have the lowest carbon footprint of all running shoes – and they’re also pretty great to run in. A significant improvement on Allbirds’ former iteration, I found them to be light, springy and responsive. Do note, though: they did take some time to break in and caused a few blisters along the way.

Balance Bamboo Leggings – £24.50 | BAM Clothing
Editor’s pick
Did you know? Bamboo absorbs five times more carbon than hardwood trees, needs half the land cotton needs to produce the same amount of fibre and doesn’t need irrigation or pesticides, either. I’m a big fan of these leggings – when testing, I found them to be soft, supportive and sweat-wicking. Performance-focused and planet-friendly? I’m in.
The Impala – £125 | Veja
Did you know? The Impala is the lightest trainer VEJA’s ever created. On the sustainability front, the company’s a certified B Corp. On their website, they clearly break down how the trainers are made, how they pay their workers, and how as a company they’re working towards building a better tomorrow. When testing, I found them to be a great all-rounder – stable enough for gym sessions but springy enough for 5km to 10km runs, too. Plus, they look great for office wear.
(opens in new tab)
Stowe Windshell – £140.00 | Arc’teryx
If you’re into hiking, you’ll have heard of Arc’teryx – a certified B Corp brand with performance and sustainability at the core of what they do.
This jacket is ideal for hiking or even rainy winter runs. It’s been upcycled from end-of-the-roll fabric that would otherwise have been wasted and is breathable, pack-away-able, and lightweight. Winner, winner.
Round neck swimsuit – £170 | Stay Wild Swim
Keen swimmer but also keen to invest in a costume that doesn’t contribute to plastic waste or ocean pollution?
Stay Wild is about as sustainable as it gets when it comes to swimwear – all products are made in London from 100% ECONYL® and 100% recycled plastic thread. Impressive.
(opens in new tab)
Primus Lite III Eucalyptus – £115 | Vivobarefoot
Another certified B Corp is Vivobarefoot, and the Primus Lite is their hero trainer. A minimal design which comes in a range of neutral colourways, the shoes do take some getting used to but are all designed to help you walk in the most natural way possible. As they explain on their site, “Cramming the human foot into a modern shoe – cushioned, narrow and rigid – negates its natural strength and function. All Vivobarefoot footwear is designed to be wide, thin and flexible: as close to barefoot as possible. They promote your foot’s natural strength and movement. Allowing you to feel the ground beneath your feet.”

Women’s Nine Trails Shorts 6″ – £60 | Patagonia
One of the highest-scoring B Corp brands (opens in new tab) with an impressive rating of 151.4, Patagonia acknowledge that everything humans make has an impact on the planet. That’s why 83% of their clothes are Fair Trade-certified (this is more than any other apparel brand).
These shorts are made from recycled polyester and built to last, meaning less waste all around.
(opens in new tab)
Ivy Scoop Unitard- £78 | Girlfriend Collective
From packaging that is 100% recycled and recyclable, to leggings made from 79% recycled polyester and 21% spandex, to recycled fishing nets and other waste using ECONYL® yarn, or tees and tanks that are 100% cupro (delicate fibre made from waste the cotton industry leaves behind), Girlfriend Collective aims to prioritise sustainability throughout its products. Not to mention, they also offer inclusive sizing, with items available from an XXS to 6XL.
(opens in new tab)
Skinluxe Racer Start Sports Bra Shadow Black – £34.00 | TALA
You’ll have heard of TALA, Grace Beverley’s sustainable gym wear brand.
Our favourite bit of kit from the brand is their SkinLuxe™ Racer Strap Sports Bra. It’s made from a fabric blend of 76% recycled Nylon and 24% LYCRA® Sport, which is a sustainable and feels buttery-smooth to wear.
(opens in new tab)
Active Leggings – £75, Organic Basics
As soon as you click on a product on the Organic Basics website, you can see the amount of carbon it took to produce an item – like these Active Leggings, for example, which took 4.41kg of CO2 to produce. Transparency is at the heart of what they do, and all of their items are ethically made from recycled materials. They’re rated as “great” on the Good For You website, too.
(opens in new tab)
Stem Gem Rock Crops – £80 | Patagonia
So good we featured them twice. That’s because outdoor clothing brand Patagonia has been focused on the environment since launching back in the 70s. To limit ecological impact, Patagonia focuses on clothing that can last for generations or can be recycled so the materials in them remain in use. They also take action on the most pressing environmental issues facing the planet, from supporting youth fighting against oil drilling to suing the former US president.
These trousers are great support for sweaty workouts, yoga flows, or wearing to work – a great all-rounder.
Zonda Active Top – £45.00 | Finisterre
Finisterre became the first European surf brand to be awarded a B Corp back in 2018, with sustainability long at the core of what the brand does. This Merino wool tank is perfect for outdoor adventures and promises to be both comfortable and practical thanks to its ergonomic panels and brushed recycled fabric. Stylish and sustainable.
Naomi Legging – £99 | Silou London
This stylish sportswear brand specialises in understated pieces. Made with bio-based luxury textiles, they use premium raw materials that are eco-sustainable, plus production processes with a limited impact on the environment, to boot.
INVIGORATE Strappy Bra – £39 | FEEL FIT
Ethically produced, Feel Fit collections are made from high-quality ECONYL® (regenerated plastic waste). Available in sizes to fit UK 6 to UK 22, the brand also supports global tree planting charity Tree Sisters with every item sold.
They have some noteworthy sustainability credentials, using 100% organic cotton, recycled cotton and repurposed nylon, not to mention their store is eco-powered by their own indoor spin bikes. Fun fact: 74% of the energy they make from the workouts is directed back to the local grid, making them a carbon-neutral company.
Neon Bike Shorts – £45 | evervital.co
This UK label focuses on luxury, sustainably-aware athleisure apparel, using a high percentage of recycled and bio-based materials.
The clothing comprises sweat-wicking, anti-bacterial, breathable fabrics, and the High Neck Sweater is made from Br4, Brugnoli’s bio-based fabric for zero compromises between environment and performance.
What should I be looking for in a sustainable sports brand?
Company: Make sure the company who makes the kit has credentials, aka are they B Corp certified? Do they publish a sustainability report? Do they use catch phrases like ‘sustainable’ ‘vegan’ ‘ethical’ ‘responsibly sourced’ without backing up how in readily available policies?
Product materials: Are the product materials from renewable, natural sources or biosynthetic feedstocks?
Product design: Does the world really need this new product to exist? Or it is just something trendy they sell to make money?
Chemicals: Does the product contain any hazardous chemicals listed on the EU REACH or ZDHC MRSL lists?
Value chain: Can you see what farms and factories made these products and do they provide end-of-life solutions for product repair and return? What is the Brand strategy on sustainability? Is it integrated with their business goals? Are employees incentives to achieve sustainability goals?
There are many benefits to using a zinc oxide sunscreen, including that zinc oxide is considered a safe ingredient for sunscreens and skincare by both the FDA and dermatologists. In fact, experts often recommend zinc oxide as an active ingredient for those with specific health concerns or skin issues.
✔️ It’s safe for kids. “For consumers who are concerned about hormonal disruption, specifically for children, I recommend sunscreens with mineral ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide,” says Steven Q. Wang, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist and Medical Director of Dermatologic Oncology at Hoag Family Cancer Institute at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, CA.
✔️ It may be a better choice for people with sensitive skin or eczema. “Mineral sunscreens generally don’t sting and can actually help soothe skin inflammation,” says board-certified dermatologist Noelle Sherber, M.D., co-founder of SHERBER+RAD in Washington, DC.
✔️ It’s pretty rare that zinc oxide would cause side effects or reactions. If you notice a skin reaction while using zinc oxide, be sure to contact a board-certified dermatologist.
✔️ There is one potential downside: Zinc oxide sunscreens usually aren’t invisible — many formulas may leave a white cast behind on skin, but they continue to improve.

Whether you’re walking the aisles of a drugstore, browsing Amazon or visiting your dermatologist, there’s one skincare brand you likely can’t avoid: CeraVe. This budget-friendly skincare brand owned by L’Oréal has built quite the empire of fuss-free formulas, with its cleansers, SPFs and tinted moisturizers — you name it — sitting at peak popularity. Skincare influencers on social media platforms like TikTok swear by the brand, which has helped to propel it to cult popularity since 2020.
Amid a saturated skincare market with heavily fragranced formulas, ornate packaging and complex 10-step routines, CeraVe takes the less-trodden path of “skinimalism.” That includes simple, straightforward packaging, easily identified and efficacious ingredients and an affordable price point of around $10 to $35. Adding to its appeal, CeraVe is always within arms reach thanks to its dependable stock everywhere from beauty retailers to drugstores to Amazon. So, is the brand actually worth the hype?
First, what’s CeraVe’s backstory?
CeraVe is a budget-friendly drugstore skincare brand that touts a formulated-with/trusted-by dermatologists reputation. The brand was founded in 2005 and set out to address skin conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis and milia by route of no-frills skincare designed to help restore the skin’s natural protective barrier.
More From Good Housekeeping
Every item in the brand’s 90 product portfolio is based on a blend of three essential ceramides (1, 3 and 6-II), hence its name. The brand also boasts a delivery system it calls “MultiVesicular Emulsion Technology (MVE) … that gradually releases our ceramide-enriched formula over an extended period of time.”
Translation: You’ll reap the skincare benefits all day long since MVE “helps to sustain their benefits on the skin over time and not just at the moment of application,” says Monica Li, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist based in Vancouver, Canada.
Is CeraVe good for your face?
Yes!Its namesake ceramides are an essential ingredient for repairing compromised skin barriers, notes Dr. Li. “These are natural fats that fill in the cracks between cells in the outer skin layer,” explains Joshua Zeichner, M.D., the Director of Cosmetic & Clinical Research in Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. “Think of ceramides like grout that sit between tiles in your shower creating a waterproof seal.” Without said “grout,” irritants can get in and make skin feel itchy and irritated.
The beauty of CeraVe is that it works across all skin types and tones — normal, oily, acne-prone or sensitive. Praised for its gentle and restorative qualities, all CeraVe formulas are made without fragrances, a common irritant for those with sensitive skin.
CeraVe products are also pH-adjusted to “align with the physiologic, natural acidic state of our skin surface,” Dr. Li adds. In simple terms, the skincare lineup works with your skin to help to improve tolerability, comfort and compatibility.
Do dermatologists recommend CeraVe?
The brand lives up to its tagline, “made by dermatologists.” The brand claims, “Not only are our products developed with dermatologists, but CeraVe is the #1 dermatologist recommended skincare brand,” and Dr. Li confirms she often recommends CeraVe products to patients of all ages because of its affordability and accessibility.
Azza Halim, M.D., a board-certified anesthesiologist and physician based in California, Florida and Illinois, even uses it to build custom skincare routines for her patients. “Some of their products are, in my opinion, important adjunctive therapies to improve certain skin conditions such as acne and eczema, without the need for a prescription,” Dr. Li adds.
What are the best CeraVe products?
Skincare is never a one-size-fits-all so it’s best to try the product for yourself firsthand. Depending on your needs, you can find anything from hydrating hyaluronic acid to brightening niacinamide to acne-fighting benzoyl peroxide or anti-aging retinol. “Active ingredients of CeraVe products have been carefully selected to be part of formulations that have targeted purpose,” says Dr. Li.
Here are our top picks, based on the picks of our network of esteemed dermatologists, our in-house chemists’ testing at the Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab and reviews vetted by our shopping pros:

Reviewers say it helped soothe hormonal breakouts on oily, acne-prone skin. “It’s very gentle, doesn’t strip my skin … makes my skin feel extra clean from the oiliness,” one wrote.

The formula is made with salicylic acid, an ingredient known to exfoliate the surface of the skin and penetrate into pores to remove oil. A satisfied shopper wrote: “I have strawberry legs, which leads to my skin looking bumpy and red. This lotion is a huge help in normalizing my skin.”

The highly anticipated Mulberry x Axel Arigato collaboration is here and we couldn’t be more excited.
Mulberry has long been a go-to brand here at MC and we’re not alone, the brand has managed to capture and cultivate loyal fans throughout the years. From the Bayswater—the chokehold this bag had on the fashion world in the early noughties is quite unforgettable—to the Alexa, these bags (opens in new tab) have been part of and shaped our lives in many ways.
I’ll admit my scepticism when first hearing about the pairing, how could the quintessential Britishness of one brand merge with the super cool and fashion-forward aesthetic of the other? But, I’ll take the L—I was wrong. In all honesty, this unexpected pairing just works and it’s quite possibly my favourite collaboration of 2023.
As you’d expect, the bags are good. I’d very much like to lug around that ludicrously capacious tote. And, as a lover of Arigato trainers, it’s a real pleasure to see a pair of substantial sneakers in some exciting colourways.
The 35-piece collection features leather bags and ready-to-wear apparel and draws on aspects of both brands, “We’re delighted to reveal our collaboration with Axel Arigato, a brand which shares our values of community and creativity. Through Axel Arigato’s innovative and contemporary approach, iconic elements of our Mulberry DNA and archive have been reinterpreted on a collection with sustainability at its core, making this an exciting manifestation of the essence of both our brands.” says Thierry Andretta, Mulberry CEO
Inspiration has been drawn from the archive with elements from classics reworked into new pieces. You’ll notice how the scale of the Bayswater, the timelessness of the Westbourne or the innovative top handle of the Westbourne has been incorporated into the collection. The result is a seriously covetable collection of accessories that will stand the test of time and form part of your forever wardrobe.
The capsule collection is available now and prices range from £45 to £1,950.

The great change, a midlife crisis — no matter what its moniker, menopause brings a significant shift to women’s bodies. The hormonal variations and fluctuations can bring weight gain, vaginal dryness, those famous hot flashes and changes to your skin.
What’s more, a slew of symptoms begin years before you actually hit menopause, which occurs at an average age of 51. “Perimenopause is the transition to menopause, and the hormonal shifts that happen during this time, especially decreasing estrogen levels, can cause the skin to become extremely dry and dull,” says board-certified dermatologist Joyce Park, M.D., founder of Skin Refinery, a virtual dermatology practice. The bright side is that you can prepare for and help combat these complexion issues with a thoughtful approach to skincare. These five adjustments will help keep your skin radiant, hydrated, and healthy not just during menopause, but in the long run.
1. Moisturize more
Estrogen — a key hormonal influencer — assists in the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid (HA), all of which give skin its youthful plumpness. “When hormones are in upheaval and estrogen starts to decline in perimenopause, this accelerates the loss of sebum and hyaluronic acid, natural moisturizing factors that keep the skin barrier strong and supple,” says Dr. Park. It’s essential to choose moisturizers that contain HA, lipids, and ceramides to combat that slackening effect. “No7 Menopause Skincare Nourishing Overnight Cream and the Protect and Hydrate Day Cream are both filled with these, and other excellent moisturizing ingredients,” notes Dr. Park. She adds that the products in this new collection “were co-created with 7,000 menopausal women to help target their most pressing skin concerns.”
2. Infuse the rest of your routine with hydration, too
“You want to incorporate moisture into every step of your skincare regimen, including cleansing,” says Dr. Park. This can further prevent excess dryness. Start with a mild, hydrating face wash that won’t strip your skin and replenishes moisture as you cleanse. Follow with a hydrating serum that contains humectants like hyaluronic acid (try No7 Menopause Skincare Instant Radiance Serum, which also features nourishing lipids and ceramides), and top it off with an emollient cream or lotion to seal in that hydration.
3. Cool down hot flashes
Perhaps the most well-known menopausal symptom, a hot flash can last just a few minutes but feels like your body is burning up from the inside. It is frequently accompanied by lots of sweating. To make matters worse, it can happen when you least expect it. “Lower estrogen levels and other hormonal fluctuations can cause the hypothalamus, your body’s thermometer, to become hypersensitive to anything from your environment to spicy food,” explains Dr. Park. A good rescue item to have on hand is No7 Menopause Skincare Instant Cooling Mist, a refreshing facial mist packed with rosewater, which also helps calm and hydrate.
4. Brighten dull skin
“Skin cell turnover slows down naturally with age, but the decrease of estrogen during menopause makes that process even slower,” says Dr. Park. This can cause a buildup of dry skin that dulls the complexion. To combat that, gently exfoliate a couple of times a week with an AHA product to slough off dead surface cells. It’s also important to incorporate an active ingredient like retinol into your regimen to amp up turnover and help rebuild lost collagen. In addition, Dr. Park recommends looking for formulas that contain antioxidants, such as green tea, vitamin C, and niacinamide to brighten skin while also counteracting UV damage. No7 Menopause Skincare Protect & Hydrate Day Cream contains all three, as well as SPF 30. Further, enhance your glow with the brand’s Instant Radiance Serum to help address the appearance of collagen-depleted skin.
5. Target fine lines and loss of elasticity
“The decline of estrogen decreases the production of collagen and elastin, proteins that are responsible for firm and bouncy skin,” says Dr. Park. To help stimulate the production of both, look for peptide-packed formulas such as No7 Menopause Skincare Nourishing Overnight Cream, Radiance Serum, and Protect & Hydrate Day Cream. They all contain peptide-packed Matrixyl 3000+. “This proprietary peptide technology helps to plump and firm the skin,” says Dr. Park. The products also include soy isoflavones, antioxidant compounds derived from soybean plants. These have been shown to help safely counteract menopausal skin changes caused by declining levels of estrogen, Dr. Park says. Finally, don’t forget about diligent, daily sun protection, which you can also find in the Protect & Hydrate Day Cream.

Emily Ratajkowski—model, actress and potential new love interest of Harry Styles (opens in new tab), —has returned from her recent jaunt to Tokyo (opens in new tab) and is back in New York City. The star was spotted out and about yesterday on the streets of NYC, and while many are still talking about her dating life, I personally am more interested in the chic outfits she is wearing.
Appearing alongside a friend, Ratajkowski was spotted wearing a printed black and white dress, knee-high vintage (opens in new tab) Dior boots and Miu Miu’s new designer bag (opens in new tab), the Nappa Leather pocket bag.
Although Ratajkowski’s look feels vintage-inspired, the dress is actually from the new collection by cult label Miaou. Released as a part of the brand’s latest range, the Karina dress is made from recycled polyester and features an asymmetrical hem and all-over abstract print. (Interestingly, many are likening the look to Carrie Brandshaw’s iconic newspaper dress from the early seasons of Sex and The City.)
As a brand, Miaou is no stranger to celebrity endorsements, as in recent years the label has become a go-to for chic starlets all over the world. In fact, It-girl Rosalia was spotted in the exact same Karina dress just a few days ago.
Aside from this, the brand has also been worn by the likes of Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and just about every Kardashian/Jenner.
Emily Ratajkowski has been a fan of Miaou for quite some time. Last summer, the model was spotted in the brand’s ever-popular panelled dress which was a part of Paloma Elsesser’s collaboration, as well as the label’s instantly recognisable corset tops.
Founded in 2016, the LA-based label has certainly managed to develop quite a following in a very short amount of time. Luckily, Ratajkowski’s exact dress still happens to be in stock. Keep scrolling to shop the chic item now.
