Princess Diana

Throughout her life, Princess Diana wore many outfits that will go down in history. From her quintessential ’80s puff sleeve wedding dress to her off-the-shoulder LBD ‘revenge’ dress, the royal was nothing short of a fashion icon.

Though, when recalling her more casual looks, Princess Diana’s sheep jumper immediately springs to mind, being one of the few off-duty outfits that has gained as much recognition as her formal attire. And now, the iconic jumper could be yours…

Yes, Sotheby’s has just announced that is it set to auction off Princess Diana’s exact Warm and Wonderful sheep sweater, as a part of its inaugural Fashion Icons sale, later this year. The company has stated that bidding will commence on August 31 and conclude on the 14th of September.

So how did Sotheby’s manage to get their hands on this little peice of fashion history, you might ask? Well, it’s kind of a funny story.

According to the designers behind Warm and Wonderful, Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne, Princess Diana had actually sent her original jumper back to the brand in order to get it repaired. However, instead of repairing the item, the brand just sent her an entirely new jumper in its place.

As per Sotheby’s Instagram, the pair continued, “This past March, as we were rummaging through the attic searching for an old pattern, we spotted a small box. Inside, tucked away beside a cotton bedspread was Diana’s original red sheep sweater from 1981.”

A serendipitous moment, indeed.

If you want to get your hands on Warm & Wonderful’s iconic sheep sweater, but don’t have the patience to wait until August (or the funds to buy the exact one owned by Princess Diana) the brand still sells replicas of the style spotted on the royal all those years ago.

In fact, now Warm & Wonderful utilise that recognisable sheep motif across a number of different items including jumpers, socks, hats, bags and more.

The Princess of Wales just made a case for statement earrings, and hers are surprisingly affordable

The Prince and Princess of Wales were out today to attend the fourth day of Royal Ascot 2023 at Ascot Racecourse.

Alongside other royal family remembers—including Princess Beatrice of York and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh—Princess Kate took to the course dressed in her absolute best. For the sunny afternoon, The Princess opted for a bright red v-neck gown with puff sleeve detailing and matched her look alongside a wide-brim red fascinator.

The royal’s hat was created by milliner to the stars, Philip Treacy, while her dress was a bespoke number courtesy of Alexander Queen. Princess Beatrice donned a floral Monique Lhuillier look, while Duchess Sophie opted for a pink dress by Suzannah London.

However, while Princess Kate’s brightly-hued outfit was nothing short of show-stopping, it was her earrings that truly captured our attention.

The Princess was spotted in a pair of gold statement earrings, which featured intricate detailing. While it would be easy to assume the Princess’s earrings were sourced from a luxury designer brand (or were even a family heirloom), Kate’s signature accessory today can actually be attributed to contemporary French fashion brand Sézane.

The label is known as a favourite among chic French women and is beloved for its timeless appeal and affordable wardrobe staples. In fact, every pair of earrings on the brand’s website retails for less than £100.

While Kate’s exact earrings are unfortunately sold out, there are several similar pairs available on the brand’s website right now that won’t break the bank. Oversize gold hoops start at around £70, while statement resin earrings can be added to your cart for just £55.

Last week, during Trooping The Colour, The Princess of Wales opted to wear a pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings, which once belonged to the late Princess Diana. And while we loved the sweet sentiment of that moment, it’s also refreshing to see the Princess opt for items that are a little more affordable.

The Princess of Wales just wore Lululemon trainers and they

Another day, another sighting of the Princess of Wales. Yesterday the royal was spotted at Maidenhead Rugby Club, where she made a visit as a part of the Shaping Us campaign. The Princess took to the field to show off her athletic abilities, joining the rugby players in a few exercises.

For the occasion, the royal swapped her usual elevated wares for a far more casual look which comprised of a rugby top, alongside navy blue running trousers from Sweaty Betty and a pair of white trainers from Lululemon.

The Lululemon runners in question were the brand’s Chargefeel workout trainers, which launched just last year. Lululemon re-wrote the rules when launching their footwear range in 2022, creating strides for women in sport. Historically, workout trainers had been created based on a man’s foot and then shrunken down to fit women, though Lululemon were one of the first brands to develop a shoe purely based on the female foot.

At the time of the launch, our Health Editor Ally Head, tested the all-rounder workout shoe, saying she “couldn’t fault them.”

In her review, Head explained “The brand promised versatility with this launch, and that they’ve delivered on. They promised that the shoes would offer the bounce you need for running, the support you need for strength training, and a flexible yet super-charged outsole perfect for high-intensity interval training, circuits, and every workout in between – and they really do.”

How’s that for a glowing recommendation? Clearly, the Princess of Wales is also a fan.

If the combination of our Health Editor’s positive review and product placement on the Princess of Wales has made you desperate to invest in a pair of Lululemon Chargefeels, we have good news…the trainers are actually currently on sale on the brand’s website.

The brand has reduced a number of colourways with prices starting from just £64 (which is 50% off the original retail price of £128).

We’ve shopped out the Princess of Wales’ exact pair below, as well as some other colours we currently have our eye on. Keep scrolling to shop.

Princess Eugenie wore a high-street dress to the royal Easter service and it

The royal family stepped out over the weekend to attend the annual royal Easter Church service. From the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children to King Charles (opens in new tab) and more, so many members of the family were present to celebrate.

Of course, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank (opens in new tab)were also in attendance. The pair arrived, walking hand in hand into St George’s Chapel in Windsor. For the occasion, a pregnant Princess Eugenie (opens in new tab) chose to don a patterned mini dress, cream coat, navy headband and matching navy pointed toe heels.

Interestingly, the Princess’s dress comes courtesy of high-street retailer Whistles and is actually currently on sale (reduced from £159 to £99). The dress is made from EcoVero viscose which, according to the Whistles website, generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact than regular viscose—so it’s a sustainable choice, too.

Evidently, Princess Eugenie is quite the fan of the London-based high-street retailer, as this is not the first time the royal has chosen to wear the brand. In fact, just last month Princess Eugenie was spotted in another printed midi dress by Whistles (opens in new tab) while attending the Zona Maco Art Fair in Mexico.

For that occasion, Princess Eugenie chose a Dalmatian printed dress that features a shirred bodice—the perfect, elasticated look to accommodate a growing bump. While back in January, Princess Eugenie was spotted in a floral patterned mini dress by the brand.

Of course, she is not alone. Even The Princess of Wales has been spotted in Whistles on occasion. In 2021, Middleton wore a blouse by the brand, while back in 2018 both Kate and her sister Pippa were spotted in Whistles’ Margot spot print shirt dress (opens in new tab)

Although the royals may have designer brands at their fingertips, it is always refreshing to see them opt for more attainable options. Keep scrolling to shop Princess Eugenie’s exact Whistles dresses.

Princess Beatrice just wore the dress brand that royals and celebrities love

It is not often that you spot not one, but two royals in the same style of dress. Last night, Princess Beatrice stepped out in London to attend a launch event for the “BBC Earth Experience” at Daikin Centre. For the occasion, the royal (opens in new tab) opted to wear a long, navy dress by The Vampire’s Wife.

The dress features a cinched waist, puff sleeve and ruffle hem, in a silhouette which has become synonymous with The Vampire’s Wife brand.

The Vampire’s Wife seems to be a favourite of Princess Beatrice (opens in new tab), as the royal has been spotted in the brand several times. In fact, Beatrice wore this exact navy dress to last year’s Platinum Jubilee Party in June. (We love a royal who isn’t afraid to outfit repeat.)

Though, this isn’t the only piece by The Vampire’s Wife in Princess Beatrice’s wardrobe. The royal has been spotted on several occasions in designs by the UK-based brand. Beatrice wore a sparkling green iteration of the dress to attend Ellie Goulding’s wedding and has also been seen in a floral design in the same silhouette.

Evidently, Princess Beatrice isn’t the only royal with an affinity for The Vampire’s Wife. The Princess Of Wales, Kate Middleton has also been spotted in the brand several times.

In 2020, while on a trip to Dublin, Middleton was seen in the exact same sparkling green (opens in new tab) Falconetti dress that Beatrice had previously worn. While last year, on a trip to the Bahamas, Kate wore a maxi-length, pink design (opens in new tab) by the brand.

And it’s not just royals. The Vampire’s Wife is just as in demand amongst celebrity clientele, too. Over the years we have spotted the likes of Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller, Olivia Wilde and Miranda Kerr in designs by the label.

Indeed, if there is one stand-out dress silhoutte that is beloved by royals and celebrities alike, this The Vampire’s Wife design might just be it.

The Princess of Wales makes a case for eschewing the Christmas jumper in favour of the festive cardigan

Late last night, the Prince and Princess of Wales, released yet another promotional teaser (opens in new tab) on Instagram for the ‘Together at Christmas’ special, which is set to air on ITV at 7:00 PM on Christmas Eve. The special will be hosted by Kate Middleton herself and is dedicated to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In the promotional video, the royal can be seen discussing the purpose of the carol service (opens in new tab) as well as the important people that will be joining for the event. Middleton was wearing an appropriately festive look for the occasion, dressed in an embellished black cardigan that featured a contrasting gold trim.

The cardigan is by the London-based label, Self Portrait and features sequins and crystal-adorned buttons for that extra level of festive sparkle.

While many choose to don a festive jumper (opens in new tab) around these times, the Princess of Wales is proving that a Christmas cardigan can be an elevated and incredibly chic alternative.

The beauty of Kate’s cardigan is that while it does, of course, feel Christmas-appropriate, it is still relatively understated. This means the look is versatile enough to wear for other, non-festive occasions, too. The cardi could easily be worn for a nice dinner or drinks throughout winter and paired alongside a cute mini dress or skirt for other times of the year.

Want to shop the royal’s cardigan? We’ve found the exact Self Portrait item below, as well as a few other festive Christmas-appropriate cardigans.

The Princess Of Wales

Last week, an image was posted to Instagram to promote the television special, Together At Christmas (opens in new tab). The event is hosted by HRH The Princess of Wales and is set to debut on ITV on Christmas eve. The royal Christmas carol service (opens in new tab), which was filmed at Westminister Abbey, is the second annual special hosted by Middleton and was created to recognise the selfless efforts of individuals across the UK.

In the promotional image, Middleton can be seen wearing a sequin-covered red midi dress and luckily for you, we know exactly where she found it. The dress is by the UK-based label Needle & Thread.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Middleton has worn the sparkly item, as she was actually first spotted in the sequin dress in January 2020. Middleton wore the Needle & Thread (opens in new tab) gown to host a reception to mark the UK-Africa Investment Summit.

Rewearing the dress again in this image is definitely making a sustainable statement, proving that it is, in fact, chic to repeat. Thankfully, it seems this is finally becoming an increasingly accepted notion, as earlier this month actress Kate Winslet did the exact same thing. At the Avatar: The Way of Water premiere, Winslet re-wore a Badgley Mischka gown she had first worn on the red carpet over seven years ago.

The story behind Princess Diana

Over 25 years on, the revenge dress remains one of Princess Diana’s most iconic styles of all time. You’ve all seen the pictures of Diana stepping out of her car in that off-the-shoulder dress, but do you know the actual story behind it?

Let’s take a walk down sartorial memory lane. The date was 20th November 1994, and Diana, Princess of Wales, was attending the Vanity Fair party at the Serpentine Gallery in London.
